Headwear...

Our daughter loves to put things on her head.  Well anything except a hat - clothes, blankets, etc.  This happens more often than you think...and more times than not, unassisted.

{before Mommy fixed her headwear and took that wubby out of her mouth...all on her own!}
And she is totally into jewelry and being "pretty pretty".  I love it!
We may have a girly, girl on our hands!

Fun, Freedom and Fireworks

We had a great 4th of July full of fun, sun, food and fireworks.  We started out our day at the Downtown McKinney Parade.  We may try a different parade next year but Addison loved it and that is all that matters.  She waved to every puppy dog, horse, and car that walked/rolled by.

Aunt Ashley was with us too and I was so sad looking back through my pictures that I didn't have one with her.

After the parade we headed home for a morning nap and then off to Brandon's to swim.  Addison was not really into swimming and was more into...well...mowing.
We tried to plan our day so Addison would take another late afternoon nap so she would stay up for fireworks and surprisingly, we were successful!
And a good nap it was...check out that hair!

Next up ...food and fireworks!  My family headed over to our house for some good food and fellowship before fireworks.
Love these two!

Last stop of the day....fireworks at Craig Ranch!  We pulled up on the side of the road not too far from the event and had the best seats.

Addison loved the fireworks, especially the music that went with them.  She was a dancing machine.
R-O-C-K in the U-S-A anybody?

We are so incredibly, grateful for our freedom and words cannot express the gratitude we have for those that fight for our country. What a wonderful day.  I am already looking forward to next year. The 4th is becoming one of my favorite holidays!

Baby Top Ten: 6 - 12 months

Wow.  What a difference 6 months makes in our list of favorite baby related things.  Last week Addison turned 14 months old and I realized I hadn't documented some of our favorite baby things that we want to remember from the past 6 months so...here are some of our favorites:  6-12 months.

1. Bath Seat
Addison was in her bath seat from the time we stopped using the baby tub up until last week, a good 9+ months.  She still fits in it (has quite a bit of room actually) and we would probably still use it if she didn't prefer to be everywhere.  This girl loves bath time and this seat was our best friend.  The front opens to get your little one in and out easily.

2. Shopping Cart Cover
One of my all-time favorite baby things.  We absolutely love our cover from Balboa Baby.  It is not only perfect for shopping carts (exception for Target) but also high chairs and we have used this countless times.  It can go right into the washer and dryer and come out looking good as new.   We don't leave the house without it.

3. Disposable Placemats
We got our first package as a gift and now they are a diaper bag staple.  I love these and get asked all the time "Where did you get those? That is the best idea ever!"  Not only is this great for the not-so-clean restaurant tables but it makes clean-up a synch.  Chick-fil-a has them for you if you dine-in and you can get them just about anywhere - Walmart, Target, Babies-R-Us, etc.

4. Diaper Genie Elite
You either love them or you hate them and we happen to love ours.  It fits perfectly in a corner of Addison's room, holds a lot of diapers, and completely masks any smell.  We don't even know it is there unless we use it of course and haven't had any problems with it.

5. Outdoor Swing
We have a lot of pictures of little A in this swing by Little Tikes.  She loves it and is a great way for her to get outside.

6. Booster Seat
Love this.  We debated on foregoing a highchair and just using this booster which we could have totally done.  We do have both and use both.  The booster goes with us any time we travel and doubled as her bath seat when we were away from home.  It works in a chair or even just on the floor of a hotel room for lunch.  We have done both.  Durable and super easy to transport.

7.  BOB Jogging Stroller
This was a gift for Mother's Day.  I didn't realize how much I missed having a jogger until I got it.  It has such a smoothe ride for Addison.  I have walked with this more than jogged but I do love it.  Addison sits up higher and can lay down if she naps.  The canopy is probably the best part, it covers baby so well.

8.  Britax Car Seat
We have been very pleased with our choice in car seat.  We honestly didn't look much.  We heard great things about Britax so we went for it.  Addison has been forward facing in this seat since she was 10 months old.  Yes, I know regs/recommendations have changed but her knees were in her face facing backwards.  Anyways, she loves it, we love it and we would definitely recommend it.

9.  Munchkin Spoons
Our favorite spoons by far.  Because the handle is longer than most, these spoons made feedings a breeze.  The spoon is the perfect size and they wash great.  Addison has even started feeding herself a little bit with these guys.

10.  Sassy Photo Book
Addison loves books and has for a long time.  I would say her first favorite for some time was You Are My Cupcake and now she loves any book she can find including the one in the picture.  This one has places for pictures inside.  As an infant it was one of her preferred chew toys but now  Addison loves to go through and name everyone she sees especially her Daddy and my sister's dog, Kirby.

Some things we are still loving from 0-6 months....

  1. Kalencom Diaper Bag
  2. Angelcare Monitor
  3. Wubbanubs
  4. Best Chair Swivel/Glider

Who knows what this next year will bring with our favorite toddler things but we are excited to find out!

Staycation

The last week of June, I was off work and a stay-at-home mom for the whole week.  It was the absolute best.  I loved every single second of it.  Here is what we were up to all week.

PANCAKE PICNICS
for breakfast many mornings.

PARK PLAYTIME
almost everyday.
BACKYARD SWIMS AND FUN IN THE SUN
before it got too hot of course.
Poor girl, I have got to work on my sunscreening skills.  She is a greasy mess!

TOOK A TRIP TO THE BEACH
Look at those little toes...she wasn't a big fan of the sand.  Hilarious.
MUSIC AND MOVEMENT AT THE LIBRARY
A definite must-do again.
MORE POOL TIME AND POPSICLES

 AND SWINGIN' TOO

We just did what we wanted to do and loved every minute of it!
There is nothing like seeing this smiling face all day.

Addison Leigh, you are such a joy and are so, so loved.  I am so grateful that I get to be your Mommy.

Daddy Day at the Zoo

We celebrated Father's Day in Oklahoma with Josh's family this year and started our morning at.... the Oklahoma City Zoo!  I have wanted to take Addison to the zoo for months and when the opportunity presented itself to go on Father's Day, we were so very excited to take Addison for the first time.

First up.. the petting zoo.  This Momma stood behind the fence to take pictures - aka.  not my thing.  Addison and Super Dad were all about it.

Addison loves her Papa!

Love those cheeks...she wasn't quite sure what to think.

Off to see the elephants and attempt a family picture...

After a couple hours... our little love had seen enough of the zoo and she was ready to go.  Asleep before we even got out of the parking lot.
A good nap and a few hours later, it was lunch time with the family.
And we ended a great day with some water play.

Addison loved celebrating her Daddy.   We love him to the moon and back!
