Our Little Helper

Addison is all about being a big girl these days and doing life herself.  You name it, "I do it" she says.

This past week we introduced Luke to a bottle and it has been extra special for Addison to help feed brother in the evenings.  She is becoming more and more fond of her brother and loves to have him pick her up from school.

Addison also helped Daddy plant some flowers several weeks ago.  She did such a great job!

And how about making some pancakes!?  Addison has that one checked off her list too.

We sure do love our little helper.

Daddy Day 2013

We have a very special daddy in this house with two kiddos and a wife that love him tremendously.

We are so thankful for how hard he works to provide for our family.
He is our Super Hero without a doubt.

We spent Father's Day laying low with a trip to feed the ducks and check on the house progress.  Then back home for some play time and dinner.

Thank you Josh for all you do for your little boy and your girls.  I am so glad you are my partner in this journey of parenthood!  We love you beyond measure!

Coming Home and Luke's First Week

A couple more days in the hospital, newborn screens, a trip to our pediatrician, and some time getting settled at home with our family of 4 was what Luke's first week was all about.

The day after Luke's birthday, the usual tests started bright and early. Vitals, hearing screen, heart defect screening, more vitals... etc.  He passed everything with flying colors.  I was able to shower which was a little bit of heaven and was feeling great!

We came home from the hospital on Saturday.  Addison was not feeling the best and was a little bit of a pistol but we still managed to come home together as our family of 4.

We had a few visitors to our house that afternoon including my Grandmother, Luke's Great Grandmother.  I love that they got to meet while he was still such a newborn.

Dr. G didn't round to Baylor McKinney so we made a trip to meet him the Monday after Luke's birthday. Overall it was a good report with an Rx for indirect sun therapy 3 times a day and this Momma was on a mission for Luke to be back to birth weight by his 2 week checkup.

We had Daddy home all week which was not only a special treat for Addison but also for me and Luke!  We loved having him home and were not looking forward to his return to work.  We got out daily for walks and even made a short trip to the pool on day.

Addison doesn't give her brother much attention but when she does, she is extra sweet.   On the day Luke turned 1 week old, Addison held him for the first time without fuss.   Her love for him will only grow and I am sure they will be best of friends.

Such a fun first week with our little guy!

Welcome to the world, Luke Matthew!

May 30th was here before we knew it and another one of the best days of our life!  I cannot think of a better reason to set an alarm for 4:30 am than knowing it is to meet your son and/or daughter for the very first time.    Surprisingly, we got some decent sleep, Nana stayed at home with Addison and  we headed to the hospital dark and early for check-in.

This time around, we were a scheduled c-section for 7:30 am and they stuck right to that schedule!

Our precious Luke Matthew was born at 7:51 am on May 30th and we could not be more in love.
8 lbs 6 oz, 20.5 inches
He is the perfect addition to our family.

{My first time to see our little guy... still in the operating room}

While back in recovery, Josh brought back Addison to meet her brother for the first time. I didn't have access to the camera then so we don't have that very first picture but we did capture some more once we got to our room.

I love that Daddy's smile!  Can you tell how proud he is of his son!?

This picture makes me laugh.  I think Addison is saying "Oh, dear!  You are an actual baby!?"

We loved getting to share Luke with our sweet family.

{a little treat for our visitors}

We delivered at Baylor McKinney and they have Cuddle Time each day mid-afternoon so our visitors left for a bit and Josh and I got some quiet time with our little guy ...until it was bath time!

Nothing like a baby sleeping on your chest!

That evening our family came back up and Addison got some special big sister presents from "bubba".

And we sang Luke Happy Birthday with our "cuckcakes" we made the night before.  Yes, everyone thought I was crazy.

Dr. Banks with our little man.  We love her and are so grateful she takes such great care of this Momma during pregnancy and delivery!

Like I said, one of the best days of our life.
There is nothing that compares to the miracle of life.

Last Day as a Family of 3

The Wednesday before Luke's birthday we set aside some special time with Addison.  Little did she realize that the next day she would not longer be the only child and that "bubba" in Momma's belly was coming to live with her!

It turned out to be an ugly day outside so we headed to the mall for some indoor fun.  A stop at the play area, riding the "bus!", and a visit to the Disney store was a couple hours full of a lot of smiles.

Then we headed home to make some "cuck-cakes" for Bubba's birthday.  Addison was so into it.  Such a fun memory for Mommy and Addison.

A very, fancy present for Mommy from my sweet family for Luke's birthday!  Best husband award winner in our house!

Addison loved "her" new purse.
And a little treat for Addison from Nana... big girl jammies!

Then some play time in Luke's room while Daddy added the finishing touch to his wall.

And FINALLY back to the "cuck-cakes" for some sprinkles!

A little for the cupcakes and a lot for Addison!  Repeat.

Such a fun afternoon with our first born, the little girl that made us parents.  I wish we could freeze frame time  just for a few years.  Addison is at such a fun age and we know is going to be the best big sister. We love this little stinker with all our hearts and cannot wait to welcome another little Carson into our family.  We hear love only multiplies.
