Two Blessings from Above

This past Saturday I had the joy of hosting a baby shower along with some other great women,  for my sister and her twin girls.  It was so much fun planning this special day and even more showering Ash and the girls.

When we found out Ash was having two girls, I had a vision for her shower... pink, pink, pink and all things girly.  We achieved just that!

Love this pic of two of my favorite Mommas... Mom and Ash!

And here are all of the hostesses with Ash.
{Denise,Amy, Ash, Me, Aunt Kristi and Myrna}
Denise and Amy are mother and daughter along with Kristi and Myrna.  Can't you tell :)  Ash and I both did gymnastics with Amy growing up and she has remained the sweetest friend since.  Aunt Kristi was beyond generous to open up her home for our party which was absolutely perfect.  All of these ladies together made for a perfect day!

We served a trio of salads from Cafe Max... yum!... and a few other goodies.
And the most delicious cupcakes from a bakery in Murphy!  They were super yummy!  Addison would have been very jealous of these "cuck-cakes" if she knew what she missed out on.

There is a little rivalry in the Smith house between Mommy's Red Raiders and Daddy's Aggies.  We love Landon to pieces but that whoopin' thing is just different.
Everyone that came brought a children's book for the girls.  It was so fun!  Ash got some great ones and not one the same!

Sweet cousin Kate and her whole family came all the way from Houston for the day to be there for Ash's special day.

A little treat of Sweet Pea lotion for all our guests.

I love my sister more than words can say.  Everyone has a story and already these little girls have quite the story full of a lot of prayer and whole lot of faith.  We all know their story is just getting started and cannot wait to see what the future holds.  They have parents with the biggest hearts and love for each other anxiously awaiting their arrival and a big sister in heaven that cannot wait to see the smile on her Mommy and Daddy's faces when these two little miracles arrive.  These twins are truly heaven sent.

Sweet baby girls, we cannot wait to meet you!!

Baby Luke Countdown... 14 days

Baby Luke Countdown ... 20 days

Countdown is on!   We are now at weekly visits to the doctor to check on Baby Luke.  Wednesday everything checked out great and no signs he is making his debut early.  They are estimating right now he is 7.5 lbs.  Friends, we still have 20 days to go until delivery day.  20...20 days to grow and grow and grow.  They are anticipating he will be close to 9 lbs when we get to meet this little guy.  We will just have to wait and see! Here is a "bump update" from the weekend taken by Addison.

Love this little girl more than words.  She is going to be the best big sister!

More Birthday Fun!

We spent Addison's actual birthday with our little family of 3.  As we start to create our own family traditions, there were a couple things we did with Addison last year that I wanted to continue this year like taking her to breakfast.  It was a little more low key this year as we went to McDonald's on our way to the zoo but Addison was still in heaven.

Then we were off to the DALLAS ZOO!  Addison has only been to the zoo one other time in Oklahoma City and as much as she loves animals, we knew she would have a blast.  She is now at a perfect age for the zoo and really loved it.

The first stop on our zoo trip was to see the penguins ... Daddy's favorite.

Then elephants, giraffes, zebras, and so much more!!  It was so fun since almost every single animal was out and about.

This little girl probably walked a third of the time, sat on Daddy's shoulder some and in her stroller.  She was an angel.

After making our way around to different animals, we came across the Children's Zoo which did not disappoint.  Addison played and played on their fun little playground ... was amazed at the fish... went to the petting zoo with Daddy (so not my thing) ... and even got to ride a pony!

What a special day with our big 2-year old!  Addison was asleep before we got out of the parking lot.  We had a blast and know there are many more zoo days in our future!

Happy Birthday little lady!

Addison's 2nd Rodeo

This past Saturday was Addison's 2nd Rodeo and she had a blast.  We threw on our boots, grabbed our cowboy hats and celebrated this little cowgirl's second birthday.

Addison is all over the place so to get a picture of our little cowgirl was quite the challenge...

We are so thankful my mom opened up her home to have Addison's party.  When our family gets together it is quite the crowd and our temporary home wasn't going to fit everyone nor do we have a yard.  She rounded up some of the cutest "props" from teachers at her school that were willing to share with us for the weekend. And the weather was perfect, a little windy which meant a little chilly, but overall much better than the 45 degrees it was a few days prior.

We started the evening with a casual, rodeo-style dinner of pulled pork sandwiches.  Addison loves barbecue so it was fitting for the birthday girl.

Addison eating with her cousins... and bossin' them around a bit.  She wasn't too happy when she had to share "her barnyard" but she got over it pretty quickly.

Next up - presents. We would hear "wow" after almost every gift Addison opened.  She loved everything and wanted to open it all right away to play but we did our best to keep things moving.

Check out that banner!  My mother-in-law made that.  Is it not just perfect!?

And finally, "cuck-cakes".  Addison was looking forward to cupcakes all day and took it all in.  She LOVED everyone singing to her and sang along herself for a little bit of the "happy birthday" song or happy you as she calls it.  She just sat there... taking it all in.  She even blew out her own candles!

She looks SO big!!

Did I mention Addison had a blast!?  You can tell by the picture below.  She is a hot mess... skirt turned up, princess shoes on, doritos on her face... all signs of a great party.

We sure do love our little cowgirl and had such a fun day celebrating her. A special thanks to all our family that joined us for her special day.  Such great memories with our little girl.
