Addison Leigh is TWO!

 Miss Addison Leigh,

We welcomed the sweetest, blue-eyed, brown curly-haired little girl into our lives two years ago today and you changed our world.  To say these last 2 years have been the best couple years of our life is an understatement. This past year, and past 6 months especially, you have grown into this little girl who talks constantly,  knows exactly what she wants, and has a personality bigger than you are.  We cherish each second we have with you, even the challenging ones, and can't wait until you wake up each morning so we can start our day together.

Here is what you are up to these days.  You....

  • LOVE your colors and know them very, very well.  yeyow (yellow), purpah (purple), and pink are your favorites but you know them all... boo (blue), geen (green), white, red, ornch (orange).
  • LOVE puppies.  You really love your stuffed dog we so cleverly named "puppy".  You sleep with him and he travels with us everywhere we go.  He plays outside with you and goes on walks.  It is pretty precious.  And, you love real dogs too.  Daddy takes you to the dog park almost every week to see all of the dogs and you eat it up (usually).
  • are a lefty!  As of now, you eat and draw with your left hand and are very good at it.
  • Are a pretty good eater.  You love to eat but sometimes we have a hard time taking you away from your "nacks" for real food.  You would eat snacks all day if we let you.  You love fruit snacks, cereal, gold fish, raisins, apples, and bananas.  Chicken is often your go-to for dinner and for lunch, it is deli turkey or ham.  You are not big on cheese or bread and pick things out in your food like a hawk.  A grain of pepper or the slightest site of "burnt", you hand it over and tell us "trash".  Green beans, cucumbers, and carrots are your favorite veggies and there isn't a fruit you don't like.
  • LOVE to sing!   We will hear you singing along to the radio in the car which always makes us smile.  You still love your toddler songs like Wheels on the Bus, You Are My Sunshine, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Hickory Dickory Dock, Twinkle Twinkle... and you sing some that you must sing at school that we don't know.  You have motions to go along with most of them.

  • Buses. You love them. You can spot them a mile away and as they drive off we hear "Bye Bus".
  • Are sleeping in a big girl bed.  We have you in a twin bed and made the transition when we moved at the beginning of April.  You have done so well!  We lay down with you each night until you fall asleep after books. You stay put until anywhere from 7 to 8:30 when you are ready to wake up.  At that time, you come out of you room and close the door behind you - Puppy, blanket and paci in tow.
  • Speaking of Paci, you still have one.  We are down to one wubbanub, your frog. You love that thing so much I don't have the heart to take it away.  It will happen in the next few weeks before Bubba comes (maybe).  You only get it at nap and at bedtime.
  • LOVE shoes.  My shoes, your shoes, Daddy's shoes, shoes in a store..it doesn't matter, you put them all on and usually get them on the right feet.  You know the difference between shoes and boots and are a little obsessed with your own pink cowgirl boots.
  • are pretty girly.  Necklaces, bracelets, purses.  You cannot get enough and you don't like your hands dirty or sand in your shoes.

  • are still working on sharing.  You do really well at times and other times you are a toot.
  • you LOVE your cousins, especially Logan.  He can always make you giggle.
  • are going to school full-time, Monday - Friday, and got a rave review at your Parent-Teacher Conference just a couple weeks ago.
  • are very healthy.  We had our bouts with the flu this year, some allergies, and an ear infection or two but overall you are a very healthy little girl and we are so thankful.
  • LOVE animals, especially "moos" and "neighs" and even more so "baby moos" and "baby neighs".  We find ourselves driving around to find you some cows and horses to look at pretty often.
  • love routine.  You always get a bowl when you are having a snack and it is usually pink or purple these days.  After bath each night, you watch a cartoon or two while you have some milk and then it is off to bed for some reading time and night-night.  We sit down and eat dinner as a family.  You know who sits where.
  • like to clean. Give you a cloth and you will start wiping things down.
  • are very independent.  You want to do just about everything these days on your own or at least try.  Then we often hear "help please!".
  • You play so well by yourself and often prefer some time alone in your room - reading. playing with your dolls and animals, or cooking on your kitchen.

Some of your favorites phrases and words:

  • - Not nice "Insert toy".  Lately it has been "Not nice puppy".  We are not sure what puppy has done.
  • - What you doing?
  • - Where you go?
  • - More ___ peees. (please)
  • - cacka (cracker), cookie, mick (milk), juice, nack (snack), apple, nana (banana)
  • - Sit "insert object".
  • - Help please!
  • Had your first haircut a few weeks ago.  Just a good trim. That pretty hair is still all there and getting lighter!
  • Your eyes are still the prettiest shade of blue.
  • You are in mostly 2T and 3T clothes, 3T pajamas
  • Size 7 shoe
  • Are wearing size 5 diapers but have interest in the potty.  You have gone on the big potty probably less than 10 times but we are so proud of you!  We are not pushing it right now so it is only when you show interest. Once baby brother gets here and we get settled, we plan to start the potty training pretty seriously.

We had the best weekend with you, sweet girl.  We celebrated your birthday with family yesterday and spent a special day with just you, Mommy and Daddy today!  More details on both to come!

What a wonderful 2 years it has been and so many great things to come.  You will always be our baby girl but we love to watch you learn and grow each day. We cannot wait to see what this next year brings!

Happy  Birthday Addison Leigh!  We love you to the moon and back!
