Peek-a-Boo

This picture makes me laugh every time I look at it.  Addison is a growing girl and standing in her crib is one of her favorite things to do these days.  This is how I found her the other morning when I went in to get her.

Usually within fifteen minutes of putting Addison to bed, we hear her on the monitor whimpering because she is "stuck" standing and doesn't realize she can just sit back down.  Sometimes she will play and talk for a good thirty minutes before she falls asleep.  Needless to say, Josh lowered the crib all the way down this weekend just to be safe.

And as a side note, poor girl really needs a hair trim or a decision made to grow out those bangs.  She can barely see in the mornings and looks like a completely different kid!

We sure do love her... bed head and all!

Miss Hollywood

Scrub-a-dub-dub

Bath time might just be Addison's favorite time of the day.

Addison gets a bath every evening and is all smiles, all the time.   There is nothing like a snuggle with a clean, happy baby.

I see a lot of trips to our neighborhood pool in our future!

Exploring

Addison has spent the past week exploring and getting her hands on whatever she can.  Poor girl has a house that is all hardwood floors except for her bedroom, but that isn't stopping this crawling girl.

Trying to pull up...thank goodness for a "soft" coffee table/ottoman.
We think the crawling stage may be short lived.  This little one prefers to be on her hands and feet.  Some type of gym program may be in her near future.

An empty cup can provide hours of entertainment.  Okay, maybe not hours but quite a while.  I can only imagine how much fun she will have with the tupperware cabinet once she finds it!

Keep exploring little lady!  We are having so much fun watching you discover new things every day.

On the Move!

We have a crawler!  Addison has been trying so hard the past few weeks to get her move on.  She has scooting backwards competely down along with the army crawl and can roll around and reach just about anything she wants to get her hands on.  Well this morning Josh and I got the best email from one of her teachers at school.
Subject:  Addison Update
Email:  She is crawling!  She is in music and crawled across the rug to get an instrument.  She starts to crawl with her hands and knees and then tried to use her foot instead of her knee.  It is too cute!

To say this was a "Proud Mommy Moment" is an understatement.
Way to go sweet girl!

Happy Weekend.

Sometimes the weekend arrives at just the right time and this was one of those weeks.  We could not wait to enjoy a couple days at home without anything planned. We headed outside when we could and loved every minute.

Happy Weekend.

Happy New Year!

We were so excited for the invite to spend New Years with the Smiths. We packed up our things and headed west for a fun couple days with family and friends.   The weather was perfect and Ashley and Landon have the perfect house to soak up lots of time outside.

Let's get the party started!

This picture cracks me up.  Aiden loves his little cousin so much that I think he might want to eat her!

We spent some time out at Landon's parents visiting with JoJo and Daddy Rick and living the country life.
The boys being boys....

There is something so peaceful about life in the country. Even our little city girl had a blast!

Something extra fun when you are in Paradise, TX... jumping in leaves.

After a wonderful afternoon, Ashley and Landon put together a wonderful spread to celebrate the new year at their house with family and friends.   Even Kirby got to join in on the fun!

Once the kiddos were in bed, we will all admit we had a hard time staying awake but we made it!

Happy New Year from the Carsons!  Wishing you a year full of blessings!

Tree-mendous Teachers

Just a quick peek at what Addison took her teachers to spread a little Christmas cheer.

"You're TREE-mendous!"

Thank you to Aunt Ashley for the wonderful idea!

Christmas in Oklahoma

After Addison's morning nap, we loaded up and headed north on Christmas Day for Christmas with the Carson family.  Addison is so great in the car.  It really doesn't matter if she just had a nap or not, she usually sleeps if you give her 30 minutes to get settled and this time was no different.  Addison slept until we were about 30 minutes from Josh's parents house.  With a little help from the iPad for entertainment at the end of our drive, we arrived in Oklahoma around 4 pm Christmas day.
Mimi and Papa were very excited to see Miss A and spoil her rotten!

See that big yellow smiley face in the lower left above.  That is our new household pet.  Yep, a caterpillar... a 6 ft long caterpillar!  We don't have a name yet for her but Addison loves her.

Addison loves her Papa too!

Uncle Nick and Elisha found Addison the most adorable outfit.  Yes, the shoes have little horses on them.  They thought they were perfect for Addison and Daddy loved them too!

The special plate Addison made for Mimi.
We had a wonderful evening.  Addison was into everything and didn't really want to go to bed in case she might miss something.  Little did she know, it was present time again the next morning with the great grandparents.

Addison was so proud when she pulled out her present all by herself.  Such a big girl!

Before we knew it, it was time to for one more bedtime story and to snuggle in for another trip home.  Thank you to Josh's parents for making Christmas in Oklahoma so wonderful!

Addison: 8 months

Sweet girl, you are 8 months old today.  You will always be our baby girl but this past month we have seen you act less and less like a baby.  You are gaining more and more independence and amaze us each and every day with what you do.

At 8 months you:

  • do not like the vacuum cleaner or the sound of Daddy's drill
  • are starting to eat some finger foods and are so good at putting your Puffs into your mouth all by yourself
  • LOVE to stand and work so hard to try and pull yourself up to your feet from a sitting position
  • have getting up on your knees and rocking back and forth completely down and try SO hard to get going but are not quite moving just yet; you will get your move on this next month, I just know it.  Keep trying sweet girl, you can do it!

  • love your Aunt Ashley and Uncle Landon's dog, Kirby; you literally laugh out loud watching him play catch; we need to get it on video
  • pooped in the tub during your bath; only one time but a memory at that
  • love to drink ice cold water and are getting better at your sippy cup
  • were a total trooper through the holidays and adjusted well to the craziness of your schedule and later bed times than usual
  • still do not sleep much at school because you would rather talk to your friend, Carson, through your crib than sleep; Miss Social
  • sleep very well at night, 12+ hours straight without a peep
  • can wave! You do not wave specifically hello or goodbye at the right times but randomly, like in your highchair during dinner, you will start waving. It is too cute.
  • are very good with your hands and so alert to all of your surroundings
  • babble like crazy!  School is teaching you the word "ball" and one of your favorite sounds to say right now is "bah"
  • LOVE necklaces and zippers
  • are such a good traveler
  • still have those cheeks that we cannot get enough of
  • only have your bottom two teeth
  • love your tongue

  • melt our hearts when you snuggle and lay your head on our shoulders
  • have been very healthy with the exception of a few colds, we have not been to the doctor yet for being sick, just your regular checkups.  Praise the Lord!
  • are eating 3 meals a day and 4 bottles of breastmilk (21 oz total)
  • eat 3 tablespoons of cereal and some fruit for breakfast
  • eat yogurt and a veggie for lunch
  • eat a meat, veggie, and some fruit for dinner along with some Puffs
  • drink 3 - 6 oz bottles during the day and a smaller bottle before bed, usually 3-4 oz.
  • are wearing size 3 diapers during the day, size 4 nighttime diapers
  • wear 9 mos clothes, a few of your 6-12 mos clothes, and starting to wear some12 mos outfits and sleepers - growing girl!
  • wear size 3 shoes
We cannot wait to visit Dr. G next month to see how much you have grown and I cannot believe it is about time to start planning your 1st birthday.

You are our world, the ultimate blessing.  We love you to the moon and back, Addison Leigh, and cannot wait to see what your next months bring.

Christmas Morning

Addison must have been on the nice list this year because Santa Claus came and brought her all kinds of goodies.  We loved being at home Christmas morning.  It made Addison's first Christmas extra special.

We could not wait to show Addison what Santa had brought her.  She loved pulling things out of her stocking and she is still discovering new toys she didn't know she had.

She got books.  This girl loves to read.

a puzzle ....

an activity table which may be her favorite item Santa brought her...

Some bath toys and a piggie bank, among other things.

After we checked out all of Santa's surprises, Addison opened up a few gifts from Mommy and Daddy and helped us with a couple gifts too.

This precious little girl is the best gift ever and we are forever grateful for the miracle of life.  What a special Christmas!

Christmas Eve Cont'd

After Christmas Eve service, we headed over to my aunt and uncles with the rest of the Garrey crew to continue our Christmas celebration.  As I have probably mentioned before, my mom is the oldest of 7 children so when we all get together - it is a blast and so much fun to catch up with everyone.  Since we were in Oklahoma last year for Christmas Eve before we headed to Breckenridge, we missed the Garrey family celebration and really looked forward to it this year.
Aunt Kristi with her mom who made some of the best homemade lasagna to go with our Maggiano's Italian feast.  So good!  A huge thank you to Aunt Kristi and Uncle Bob for being such wonderful hosts!
Addison with my sister doing a little family fellowship before we sat down for dinner.

J with our cousins, Jackson and Ryan.
And some more of the boys - sorry Will, you ended up a little blurry.

This little lady had Christmas spirit from her head down to hear toes.
The Howard Family
Reading stories with Nana.
Mary with Miss A

Phew, looking cute is hard work!  It wasn't too long before this little one found Nana's shoulder and was ready for here Christmas jammies.

After a few gifts, Addison went to bed and we enjoyed a great game of Catch Phrase with the family.
Christmas Eve was absolutely wonderful and we cannot wait until next year!

Next up... Santa comes!
