A couple week's ago after Addison's nap, I was changing her sheet and this little girl thought it was the coolest thing ever that her bumper came off! So...
We played...
We giggled...
We sang songs and clapped our hands...
And had snack...
And... I just couldn't get enough of those smiles.
Today was Addison's official last day of school for the regular school year.
Poor thing is just getting over a virus and just isn't quite back to herself. She really wasn't as sad as she looks for her last day of school.
She leaned over to her nightstand as soon as I put her in her chair and grabbed a book. She was in the reading mood I guess. As posed as it looks, it really happened without any assistance from Mommy. This girl loves her books!
I cannot believe how much she has grown and changed since August. From barely sitting up all by herself to walking the halls, time flies.
To celebrate our teachers for a wonderful year and thank them for all their love, I put together a little "happy summer" treat for Addison to give them today.
Inside their bags they found a beach towel, candy, magazine, and an insulated cup with an assortment of Crystal Light lemonades inside. To go with the Sweet Summer theme, I made a tag that read, "Thank you for being so sweet this year. Hope you have an extra cool summer...Relax and enjoy the sun!"
We have loved Addison's teachers this year and it has definitely made this "working-mommy" thing a little bit easier. We had some bumps along the way here and there but feel Addison is at a great place. I know she is going to have a lot of fun this summer at "camp".
We cannot wait to see what this next year will bring but for now are just anxious to get our baby girl feeling like her sweet self again!
We have heard since Addison was first born that she looked just like Josh and to be honest, Josh and I haven't really ever seen it until recently when I pulled out the baby pictures. You tell us...
Does Addison look more like Daddy or Mommy? Here we all are at 1-year.
{Daddy - Addison}
{Mommy - Addison}
{try again...Mommy - Addison}
{Still no....how about now!?}
Yep, I get it. She looks like her Daddy. Which by the way, I am totally okay with.
Dr. G gave us some homework at Addison's 1-year checkup: start brushin' those teeth daily and be bottle-free by her 15-month checkup.
First up, those pearly whites. Addison did surprisingly very well!
I love that crazy hair after her bath.
Up next...bottles. It is as if Addison really listened to Dr. G at her appointment. She woke up the day after her check-up and pushed her morning bottle away. I attempted her bottle again that night and she pushed it away again! I really thought getting Addison off her bottles was going to be a much tougher feat and really didn't believe it so... I tried her bottle again the next morning to no avail. We are officially bottle-free and they are packed up in her closet!
Now those two things make this TODDLER thing that much more official.
Once all our guests arrived, it was time for dinner but let's fast forward to the extra fun stuff first.... CAKE!
I was in love with Addison's cake and was SO happy with how it turned out. It was from Geelicious Confections in Frisco and the nicest baker, Gloria, made it just perfect. Even better, I happened to WIN Addison's cake in a monthly giveaway back in March. Who wins a cake!? Gloria delivered her beautiful presentation on Saturday afternoon and went above and beyond our expectations.
The GIANT cupcake is completely edible and was accompanied with Addison's smaller smash cake. In fact, the only thing you couldn't eat on the whole tray was Addison's picture.
Addison sat in all her glory and listened to everyone sing her "happy birthday" and then very delicately, went right for the frosting. I helped her after a few minutes get to the cake. I think she would have spent hours slowly swiping her fingers in the frosting bit by bit. She loved it.
I love that sweet face more than I can put into words.
Here is a video of our little cupcake!
Okay, let's back up a bit. As I mentioned - we had dinner after our guests arrived and then Addison opened some gifts.
We had Addison's party at 5 in the evening so we put together a simple dinner spread of sandwiches, pasta salad, fruit, chips, dip, some veggies and tortilla roll ups.
And some sweets of course to celebrate our "Sweet One".
I found some great recipes I used for Addison's cookies and cupcakes. I will share those in a later post.
I could not have put Addison's party together without the help of my wonderful Mom. We spent Friday afternoon together prepping for Miss A's cupcake party. I loved every minute of it and we had some really fun laughs along the way!
Addison thought the tissue paper was the best part of her presents! Once she was over the paper... she found interest in her new toys that talk to her and play music.
Addison loved her slide from Mimi and Papa as did her cousins. She still needs some help of course but will love that for many years to come.
We had the best time celebrating our 1-year old and cannot thank our family enough for celebrating with us. The amount of support and love we have received from those we love for over the past year is priceless.
We asked our guests to sign the inside cover of "Camilla the Cupcake Fairy" for Addison to have as an extra sweet memory in years to come.
The little ones went home with bubbles for party favors.
I am looking forward planning Addison's next birthday but for now, I am soaking up time with this precious TODDLER walking all over the house and developing quite the little personality.
We decided to take Addison out for breakfast on her birthday...maybe a tradition we will continue year after year. So we were off for pancakes with the birthday girl!
Destination - Main Street Bistro @ The Shops of Legacy
She loved her Silver Dollar Pancakes and a little bit of Daddy's waffle and Mommy's French Toast. This girl can eat! I also ordered her first drink at a restaurant - kid's whole milk, please!
These were the best pictures I got at breakfast but was able to capture some of our big 1-year old afterwards. Yep, same shirt - I washed it (twice) the night before so she could wear it again.
As soon as we got home, it was back to The Coupe. Notice the shirt... she had enjoyed breakfast and lunch at this point!
And some Super Girl fun after nap time with Daddy flying through the streamers hanging in her bedroom doorway.
Next up... getting ready for our party guests to arrive!
